Yesterday we looked at the tragicomical story of the language regime necessary for the EU patent (formerly the Community patent).
Under the Belgian presidency of the Council of the European Union there is advance information about the Competitiveness Council in Luxembourg Monday and Tuesday (11-12 October 2010):
The agenda
A more detailed background note with links to relevant documents
A timetable for public deliberations and public debates, as well as the items
A link to the audiovisual service to follow the public discussions through video streaming
A clear press release from the Commission, with links to additional documents
I evaluated these materials on Grahnblawg in Swedish earlier today. My impression was fairly positive in comparison with Council standards generally. In addition I looked at advance information from Sweden, Denmark and Finland.

If you are interested in the wider picture of innovation in Europe, I recommend the blog post by Ann Mettler, of the Lisbon Council: Informal Competitiveness Council: Innovation (Not) @ Work (8 October 2010).
