Jason O’Mahony has been blogging away like a stakhanovite, mixing fact, fiction and humour against the backdrop of the Irish Lisbon 2009 referendum. His post on “The best Lisbon Treaty information out there” represented the more sober side of his “ramblings”.
Indeed, he recommended the Lisbon fact sheets of the European Movement Ireland, which present a lot of facts and puncture a number of rejectionist myths about the amending treaty.

Information on the technical details of Lisbon - its pros and cons - are obviously of critical importance. But I also think it's important to take a step back sometimes and ask why are we in the EU for the first place? What is it doing while we're tinkering with its constitutional architecture?
ReplyDeleteSee http://www.right2bet.net for a campaign that pulls no punches in pointing out what it thinks is wrong with the EU (a flagrant denial of EU citizens' right to choose). Maybe we should focus our reforms of the EU to eliminate the need for criticism such as this?

ReplyDeleteCorporate interests are legitimate 'per se', but I would prefer special interest pleading clearly presented as such and without freeloading on the Lisbon 2009 referendum debate.
