Mary Robinson Facebook group growing

The Lisbon Treaty offers the EU leaders opportunities to reconnect with EU citizens, if they are prepared to look beyond their customary horizons. The remaining visible top jobs are the President of the European Council and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

European Council President

Mary Robinson

In a little less than 48 hours, 427 persons had joined the Facebook group in support of Mary Robinson becoming the President of the European Council, once the Lisbon Treaty enters into force. A few minutes ago, the total had climbed to 5,590 supporters.

Tony Blair

In the same two day period, 373 persons had signed the Stop Blair petition. A few moments ago, there were 37,690 signatories.

High Representative

Despite some newspaper speculation, the member states’ silence surrounding the new High Representative is disconcerting.

Where are the proposals from member states, europarties, NGOs, academics and engaged citizens?
