In Finland the Ministry of the Interior requests government institutions to fly the national flag on Europe Day 9 May, and the Ministry recommends that private properties do the same. If possible, the European flag should be flown alongside the national flag.
A small symbolic gesture from the Government, but positive all the same, although the practice is not wide-spread outside public bodies.
